forest eudr

On June 29, 2023, a new European regulation came into effect, targeting products linked to deforestation and preventing them from entering the European market. This regulation, known as the Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 – EUDR , replaces the earlier EUTR from 2020, marking a significant step forward in the EU’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

 Deadlines to Keep in Mind:

Mandatory compliance for large businesses: December 30, 2024
Extended deadline for SMEs: June 30, 2025

Steps to Compliance

To comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), businesses must take the following steps:

  1. Understand your role and obligations – are your products in scope? What are your responsibilities?
  2. Ensure you can trace the origin of your products to confirm they are deforestation-free
  3. Implement a due diligence system which includes information gathering, risk assessment / mitigation and reporting as required by the EUDR

At Imago Group, we are committed to helping our clients navigate these new requirements. We understand that the transition may seem daunting, but with the right support and guidance, your business can achieve compliance and continue to operate sustainably.
