Working with Creatives & Publishers

Many tabletop games, and specifically board games often consist of many components and involve several manufacturing processes and there are many decisions to make.

Considerations include the packaging – should you go for a two-piece box, or a tuck flap box, or a box with a hinged lid, or a tin? How big should the game board be and how should it fold down. How should the components be organised in the box and how do they stay in place during transport? What playing pieces would you like and in what material?

With all these questions in mind, we love to get involved at an early stage to find out about your project and help you arrive at the best, most engaging solutions. We are happy to provide multiple quotations to explore different formats, finishes and materials to ensure your requirements are met.

Choosing Imago as Tabletop Game Manufacturers

Board games can often involve sourced elements such as dice, playing pieces, counters, and spinners.

We have a dedicated sourcing team based in China who source off-the-shelf or custom-made components, oversee production, and coordinate delivery for inclusion with the main game. Our wide range of suppliers enables us to offer products made from metal, wooden and plastic.

Buying everything from a single source helps you avoid complex coordination between suppliers and the headaches of importing and transportation.

We work closely with our tabletop game manufacturers and suppliers to ensure they understand the quality requirements of your project and we run our own risk assessments to help pre-empt any problems.

We ensure there are ample checking and approval stages during production including the provision of pre-production dummies, verification, and advance samples to make sure everything is correct and goes to plan.

We also have our own qualified QC inspectors at our disposal for inline or pre-shipment checks and encourage our suppliers to be ISO 9001 (Quality Management) accredited.

Some of our clients have their own safety processes in place but, if required, we are more than happy to help you ensure your game or puzzle product is safe for its intended audience and complies with the relevant legislation.

We have our own safety consultant on hand and our teams are trained regularly on issues surrounding product safety and can step in to help assess and mitigate risk in this very complex area.

We are also able to arrange testing on your behalf, if required, via accredited laboratories.

Bespoke Board Games

Many specialist tabletop game manufacturers, and specifically board game producers work to standard formats and offer a limited menu of materials and components.

Imago specialise in bespoke board game production, we know one size doesn’t fit all, so you have the freedom to choose the materials, formats, and components to match your concept and suit your budget.

We can even tailor-make game pieces, although minimum order quantities may apply.

Specialist Jigsaw Puzzles

Imago works with many leading puzzle publishers to produce a series of puzzles in standard formats both in Europe and China.

Jigsaw production is a specialised process and requires specialist machinery. Our suppliers hold standard die-cut molds for 500 and 1000 piece puzzles, so we can produce very economically.

Customised production is also possible, although creating new die-lines and die-cut molds adds to the cost of the production

Quality Tarot, Affirmation & Playing Cards

Imago have a lot of experience producing card decks and we understand how critical it is to have colour consistency across the deck. Our suppliers have auto collation equipment to ensure decks are compiled accurately.

We also have expertise in gilt edging, which is often a requirement for affirmation and tarot decks.

We have produced many stunning tarot card sets over the years, including this special edition tarot card set for Liminal 11.
