book with pu covering

How can PU Coverings be Used?

Polyurethane (PU coverings) binding materials are available in a multitude of colours and textures and can provide some really striking effects.

Traditional applications of PU coverings were used as a type of faux leather, which simulated the natural quality of leather.

The uses of PU coverings have expanded well beyond that now, into a mind-boggling array of chic colours, textures, and finishes. PU is super smooth to touch and well suited to the luxury journal, packaging and book markets as a classy yet durable covering material.

Creative PU Covering Ideas

Some PU’s are thermo-reactive, which means that they change colour to a darker tone when embossed using hot stamping.

This is a really effective and popular way to add design motifs and highlight text on a book cover. You can add screen printing or foiling too – the sky is the limit!
