Limited Edition Book and Case | Janis Joplin – Days & Summers
Limited Edition Book and Case Project | Janis Joplin – Days & Summers | Scrapbook 1966-68
Imago were thrilled to develop a compilation of Janis Joplin’s personal musings and memories into a stunning limited edition book and case. No stone was left unturned on this project, with a number of beautiful, bespoke finishes that are both luxurious yet in-keeping with the ‘scrapbook style’ that makes this book such a head-turner. Each copy is hand-numbered, stamped by the estate with Janis Joplin’s signature, and hand-signed by her bandmates.
The product includes a stunning hardback book with various foil blocking finishes, a vegan PU leather cover to the book, both gold gilt edging to the top and bottom of the internal pages, and deckle edging to the foredge of the internal pages, plus a navy, cloth-bound solander case.
We worked closely with the client throughout the entirety of the project to ensure that all production elements and final delivery ran smoothly. One of the most complex and unique elements of the project were the various foil blocking designs on the front cover. To achieve a flawless end product, Imago worked hard with our printer to ensure that the many layers of different foils were applied and finished as intended.
As this is a limited edition book and case with a run of just 2000 copies, high-value elements, and complex finishes, the overarching goals for the project included quality printing and finishing to the highest order. The client also needed efficient turnarounds on delivery and distribution. This is why Imago are approached for projects like this, as we’re leaders in print management. We’re able to produce quality, bespoke products on time and on budget for our customers.
For high-quality and efficient turnarounds, we chose to produce this Janis Joplin limited edition book and case with our trusted printers in China who have a keen eye for detail. Our preferred printers also understand complex finishing that is often more expensive and difficult to achieve elsewhere.
Our client Genesis were extremely pleased with the final product and you can read more about the publication on their website.
